This was our first fishing trip of 2023. Strong winds and storms the day prior led into our bluebird fishing day. Come along to see how we stringed some bites together on a tough fishing condition day. Thanks for being part of our community and stayed tuned for more exclusive content from R & J Bass Fishing. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them below and we'll answer them.
Topwater action early and then a subtle color change to get more bites.
Early Spring fishing in Michigan. Topwater bite early then subtle change in color of lure to get bites. #bassfishing #fishing #Michigan #topwater
My channel partner Jim and fished Clear Fork yesterday for the first time in few years. The first thing I noticed was the water levels were really low! I'm not sure if it's from the drought or if they are drawing it down. Water surface temperature was running 59 to 60 degrees. Most of the shallow cover for bass fishing was exposed on land and not much was left in the water. It does look like they treated the weeds at some point this year. There wasn't much, and most of the bottom looked like a moon scape bottom. Couple eagles flying around is always a joy to see with the beautiful fall colors of the trees. The DNR has fish nets set up all around the lake, so be careful when boating out there. The only part visible is the larger buoy from shore. The net is submerged. I also hit a stump idling across the middle of the lake. So be aware of the lower water levels. Luckily no damage given the speed and being trimmed up a little.
The fishing wasn't great. I think we landed ...
