Vineyard Lake 04-19-23
I fished Vineyard lake this past Wednesday. This a new lake for me to figure out as I don't know anything about it. It has really shallow flats that run 1 to 2 feet deep and lots of them. They quickly drop off into 8 to 12 feet from there. Couple real long channels that looked like prime spawning areas, but they were pretty old and silted in with 1 to 3 feet of water in them. The Raisin River comes in at one section of the lake and exits at another end. Both weren't possible to navigate due to being too shallow. I found two areas that panned out while I was fishing there. One was a shallow area that had leafy cabbage on it and it was 1 to 2 feet deep. The other was an area that was about 12 feet deep and had some deeper sparse weeds that were holding bluegill and other baitfish. It was a long point that hooked back into a pocket. Swim jig and jerkbait were the most effective lures.
This was our first fishing trip of 2023. Strong winds and storms the day prior led into our bluebird fishing day. Come along to see how we stringed some bites together on a tough fishing condition day. Thanks for being part of our community and stayed tuned for more exclusive content from R & J Bass Fishing. Fishing hasn't been on fire, but given the weather conditions Jim and I are still boating some good ones,. It snowed the first day, and the second day we had gusts up to 35 mph. We will have to see what the weather brings so far. Here are a few picks from the couple days. Stayed tuned as the videos will come out later. tight lines everyone.
